Streszczenie

The main source of fly ash is the energy sector. Consequently, there is a need to utilise this massive waste material. One of the proposed utilisation methods is the use of its sorption properties. The tests have been performed on coal ash token from the electrofilters of the Kielce, Lublin and Rzeszów heat and power plants. The impact of the chemical and physical activation of ash on its sorption properties has been determined. The chemical modification has been focused on the application of NaOH into fly ash under certain temperature and pressure conditions, while the physical modification has been based on periodic freezing and defreezing of moistened samples. The aim ofthe physical modification has been to simulate the impact of decay processes in ash dumping conditions on surface properties of ash with the focus on the application of ash as sorbents. The level of absorption has been tested on a model stand with a spectrofotometric method with the use of methylene blue.
